Ke$ha and Her Painted Face Cover V’s Americana Issue (Forum Buzz)

Inez & Vinoodh photographed pop sensation Ke$ha (side note: typing her name with that stupid dollar sign hurts my soul) for V Magazine’s Summer 2012 Americana issue, because apparently she represents the United States of America and all that we aspire to be. Or maybe she represents everything we don’t want to be and V’s sending tacky, tongue-in-cheek mixed messages.

“God help America,” was Marc10’s response.

GarageGlamorous wrote, “The cover is not bad, but they could have chosen someone more appropriate to represent America. What has this woman done for the States to be proud of? Autotune her voice to death on her single hit about partying?”

“I’m not a fan of Ke$ha but I don’t think she’s inappropriate for the cover,” KINGofVERSAILLES posted. “She’s from Tennessee (I think? Anyway, if she is, that’s very ‘Americana’) and her sudden rise to fame topping the charts of popular American music, invading the pop culture scene, etc… it all makes her seem kind of a fitting choice. Besides, it’s not as though she’s overused in fashion magazines. Truth be told, even though I think her music is downright atrocious, I wouldn’t mind reading about her,” he concluded.

Love her or loathe her, Ke$ha looks pretty good in this issue. It even looks like she bathed before the photo shoot. Sure, the whole thing would be cooler if most of us actually liked her, but we can’t have it all can we? And even if you’re one of the people who claim not to like her (as I am), I’m pretty sure you can sing along to every one of her autotuned songs that made it onto the radio (as I can).
